Turn today's groceries into your next getaway. (We hear Fiji is nice.)
The flybuys card. It’s a rite of passage into responsible adulting, but it’s also a silver ticket to the South Pacific (or, you know, hundreds of other destinations).
Yep, you read that right. Scanning your flybuys when you shop with Coles, Liquorland, Target, Kmart and a range of other partners earns you flybuys points that can then be converted into Velocity Points; Velocity Points that can then be converted into rewards like flights. So to get your flight fund started, here are four steps you’ll need to remember:
First things first
It sounds obvious, but to get things started, you’ll need to link your flybuys and Velocity accounts. Head to flybuys.com.au/velocity, log into both accounts with your details, hit the link button and you’re done. See? Faster than the avocado specials get snapped up at Coles. If you’re not a member of either then make sure you sign up to flybuys and Velocity stat.
Get busy earning - all year round
It’s easy to work out how many flybuys points you’re earning – it’s 1 point per $1 spent at Coles, Liquorland, Target and Kmart. You can check out the full list of partners and points you’ll earn on the flybuys website.
Get some air cred
So, we’re going to let you in on a (not so secret) secret… it’s not just Velocity Points you’ll earn with your flybuys. For every $100 you spend at Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor, you’ll also clock up 1 Velocity Status Credit, up to 10 per month (Terms and Conditions apply). You don’t even have to transfer points – you’ll just start earning Status Credits automatically. Velocity Status unlocks perks like Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding and Lounge Access. This means not only can your flybuys membership help to fast track you to your dream destination, you also might be able to stop in at the Virgin Australia Lounge before you.
Making the switch
If you’re sitting on a stash of flybuys points, you can transfer them over to Velocity Points at any time – it’s really easy to do it online. For every 2,000 flybuys points you transfer over, we’ll give you 870 Velocity Points in return. There’s the potential to transfer up to 138,000 flybuys points every year, which equates to 60,030 Velocity Points. So what does that get you? Well, it’s only 17,800 Velocity Points (plus $91.28 taxes and fees) for a one-way Economy flight from Sydney to Fiji. Meaning you could be saying "Bula!" to Fiji before you know it.
To see all the latest offers from flybuys and all our other partners, don’t forget to bookmark the Member Offers page on the Velocity website and check it regularly. It’s an easy way to earn big chunks of Velocity Points quickly – and most importantly get to your next reward faster!
